She also plans to share insights into the IEEE-SA with the oneM2M community. At our recent IEEE-SA M2M Strategy Team meeting we reviewed the organizational materials shared by the oneM2M community, and the team developed a series of questions, which we would plan to address with our Board. The questions relate to the oneM2M objectives and processes. If you could help to address the following questions during the meeting, or follow up with us, I would be grateful. --Could you clarify the process for joining oneM2M? Does an organization nominate itself to join oneM2M? Can an organization determine which partnership level it would join at, or is that determined by the current members of oneM2M? --We understand there is a draft interim application process posted on the open oneM2M docbox. It refers to "vertical" organizations. Does the process apply to non-vertical organizations? What is the definition of a "vertical organization"? --Does the interim application process still apply after the signing by the founding partners at the July meeting? If not, what will be the new process? --IEEE and other organizations like IETF are made up of individual members as well as entity members. How would these groups make contributions to oneM2M? --Could you clarify how patents and copyright ownership are addressed under oneM2M? --Does oneM2M have a policy to address competing standards projects? --Is there an adoption process for oneM2M specifications where there are multiple SDOs within a country? Thank you for your assistance in addressing these matters, and IEEE looks forward to learning more about one M2M during the July meeting series. Should you want to discuss or review our team’s questions, please feel free to contact me or discuss with Cherry at the upcoming meeting. We remain interested in learning more about oneM2M plans and its operating structure. Best, Chuck Dr. W.
